EXTERIOR / GROUNDS:
200 feet of newly rip-rapped shoreline extends from the West lot line, east to the creek. Mature trees provide intimacy and privacy while nature surrounds you: Feed the deer and watch the beavers swim down the creek from their winter dam to their summer dam out near Boy Scout Island.
Beyond the numerous outdoor sitting areas, the countless perennial gardens surrounding the home and lakeshore and the beautiful flat yard, the meticulous grounds offer many unparalleled features including a heated pool with an automatic cover, a large pool deck and great tree coverage for shade and privacy.
Other features include: an 8' x 8' hot tub directly outside the Wet Bar / Kitchenette; an expansive wrap around deck from the lakeside to the creek side; a lakeside sitting “perch” at the confluence of the creek and lake - one of many relaxing sitting areas on the property; a very nice playground area behind the pool and safely away from the lake; a fire pit away from the breeze of the lake; a dog kennel behind the garage.
Landscape lighting keeps the home well lit for evening entertaining.
Strategically placed speakers provide music for the pool, front porch, patio areas and other outdoor areas.
The detached, two car garage has a new foundation and floor and was lifted 30” in 2004.
EXTERIOR / GROUNDS NOTES: 1) The lake parcel surrounding the house, yard, pool and detached garage comprises approximately 1.25 of the 6.61 acres; the off lake parcel does have a potential building site, no guarantees—ask listing agent for updated details. 2) The fire department maintains a “dry” fire hydrant near the detached garage. 3) The city contributes to the maintenance of the driveway as they require access to the (sewer) lift station near the neighbor's driveway. 4) Rip rap is very well planned and executed, allowing ice to creep up (not destroying the shoreline) while creating a natural ramp for snowmobile access to the lake.
MAIN LEVEL:
Upon entering the home, you walk through an enchanting curved entry porch, into the foyer where expansive lake views greet you through the large lake side windows. The 2004 “down to the studs” remodel is evident everywhere you look and touch. The floor plan was extensively revised and updated to create an open plan that retains some separation. The main level is all about lake living with easy flow and access to the exterior in any direction – pool, hot tub, lake, creek or driveway. Every surface and mechanical component in the lakeside portion of the home was new in 2003/04. The entire main floor and second level is heated by in-floor heat (forced air heat for rooms above the garage).
The spacious Foyer introduces the spaciousness and the architectural character of the home. Flat arches supported by squared columns allow for an open, yet properly defined, floor plan. The granite topped half-wall defining the foyer and dining room is a prime example of this open, yet defined, school of thought as it allows big lake views from the Foyer. Quarter sawn oak floors create a bright yet warm feeling through the main level while the very tight grain accommodates inherent contraction from the in-floor heat system.
The Foyer flows to the Great Room, which features a stairway wrapping around an artful stone fireplace flanked by a wall mounted flat panel TV and associated audio video equipment, which includes surround sound (negotiable in purchase). Parallel walls of windows create an airy feel and allows a cross breeze and mile long views through the floor to ceiling bay window on the lake side. Two areas of the Great Room can be easily repurposed to create a distinct formal dining area.
Beyond the Great Room and through an archway, the Wet Bar / Kitchenette features granite counters, space for four bar stools, filtered water, a full size refrigerator, built-in wine cooler, Cherry cabinetry with a TV alcove, and ceramic tile floors to serve as a service area to the hot tub and pool, just beyond the sliding door. The tucked away half bath adds to the pool side convenience.
At the opposite end of the home, the Dining Room and Kitchen feature custom cabinetry and the smart planning motif. The five stool stone and cherry center island anchors the space and is situated to take advantage of the lake views while affording the chef all the necessities for an easy cooking experience. GE Profile appliances, granite counter tops, custom lighting and custom Cherry and enameled cabinetry highlight the finishes.
Many space saver features such as bread storage, a concealed coffee maker cabinet and rolling pantry shelves highlight the detailed thought that went into the planning of the home.
The dining room features a built in buffet with storage cabinets and easy flow to the Great Room and the deck. The large wrap around deck was recently rebuilt with Iron wood - it is easily accessed from either the dining room or from the kitchen side which walks out towards the creek side of the property.
The mud entry allows a perfect catch-all for the sandy shoes and heavy coats while also offering more storage and a utility sink. The oversized and heated 3 car garage has plentiful storage and a whole wall of workbench space. There is a storage area under the back stairs, (by the front service door), which also houses the hatch to the main crawl space. The back service door opens next to the large kennel.
MAIN LEVEL NOTES: 1) Sound system runs throughout home with multi-source capability for individual zones. 2) TV and A/V equipment in Great Room are negotiable.
UPPER LEVEL, LAKE SIDE:
The west staircase from the Great Room leads to the Master Suite retreat, which has all the ingredients of a great Master Suite plus a spectacular view. The vaulted Master Bedroom offers expansive windows on two sides for an airy feel and refreshing breezes from the lake. Heated floors, a gas fireplace, a TV wall with bookshelf, and a wet bar / kitchenette offer added comfort and convenience. The separate Wet Bar / Kitchenette includes a sink with filtered water, a refrigerator and a large counter – an extra convenience to start or end your day. The spacious walk-in closet wraps around itself and is actually twice as big as it looks from the door way. The very spacious Master Bath is a spa-like retreat with lake views. Features include: luxuriously heated tile floors, 36” double vanity with enameled cabinetry, a large walk in shower, full size Jacuzzi, custom tile borders, and granite counter tops with under-mount sinks. The separate Water Closet room offers a private refuge complete with a sink and linen storage. The Office, just beyond the Master Bathroom, presents options. Besides having great views and two walls of windows, this space is a perfect office that doubles as a Guest Room when needed. The existing furnishings can be purchased with the home as they fit exactly perfect. Or, this space can easily become a separate Bedroom. (To solve the bathroom issue this would present, the attached Bathroom can be re-worked into be a ¾ Bath and a full Master Bath. The other option is to block the bathroom to create a closet and move the door on the other upper level Bathroom to create a hallway entrance to the shared bath in the Bedroom wing.)
Just outside the Master Suite, a few steps down , are the Lighthouse ¾ Bathroom with gorgeous custom tile work, Laundry Room with a built in ironing board and a finished Storage Room which could be converted to a Play Room.
UPPER LEVEL, LAKE SIDE NOTES: 1) The entire lake side upper level uses in-floor heat for your comfort. 2) The main baluster is easily removable to allow for easy furniture movement.
UPPER LEVEL, BEDROOM WING:
The East staircase from the Foyer leads up to the Loft / Bedroom wing above the garage (and the Office on the lake side). As is the case throughout the home, both Bedrooms offer large windows on two walls for a cross breeze. Both Bedrooms are large and spacious with dedicated sink areas and a shared shower / toilet area, which features custom tile work. One Bedroom has the great lake views while the other bedroom offers the more secluded creek views. In the hallway, there is a nook for exercise equipment, bookshelves, etc. The Loft at the top of the stairs is well suited as an extra office space, play room, etc.
UPPER LEVEL, BEDROOM WING NOTES: 1) The center baluster is easily removable to allow for easy furniture movement. 2) The heat for the East wing is provided by a dedicated furnace.
